Launch and Emilio Florentine Team up for B4BC and Evo Art Month
Earlier this month we announced our Launch x B4BC partnership and we weren't done there! In honor of October being Breast Cancer Awareness month, Launch is donating a painted board to be auctioned off at the B4BC and Evo Art Month Kick Off Party at Evo’s Denver location on October 5th.
Evo and B4BC’s Art Month is a celebration of 21 years of Boarding for Breast Cancer and the event will be displaying B4BC’s history and auctioning off iconic action sport art and photography pieces. EVO will be hosting a party at all three of its locations, starting in Denver and then moving on to Portland and Seattle, with all the proceeds going to benefiting B4BC’s mission of outreach, education, and young survivor wellness retreats.
Launch has commissioned artist, Emilio Florentine, to completely redesign and paint the Women’s Vice Board. It will be auctioned off alongside other iconic action sport photography and art pieces at the kick off party and all the proceeds will go to benefiting B4BC’s many outreach, prevention, sustainability, and support programs.
Boarding for Breast Cancer was founded in 1996 as a foundation with a mission that can be broken down into a single equation: Early Detection + Healthy, Active Lifestyle = Best Prevention for Breast Cancer. Their focus is on the empowerment of young people to inspire positive lifestyle choices, supporting those who are affected by breast cancer and providing a community of strength and unity.
If an active and healthy lifestyle is one of best means for prevention, why not be active in the best way possible, on a board! With an outpouring of support from the action sports industry, B4BC’s history started in snowboarding and has grown to all types of board sports. B4BC’s founders include two pro-snowboarders and their first and biggest event was the B4BC Snowboard + Music Festival that over the course of its six year run hosted the likes of The Beastie Boys, Blink 182, Foo Fighters, and many others and raised over $500,000. Since then, they have launched board-a-thons and toured around the country to provide educational outreach experiences. That’s why most of the year, B4BC is on the road and advocating their mission at surf, skate and snow events, music festivals, mountain resorts, and colleges.
After the B4BC x EVO Art Month parties, B4BC is embarking on their annual “Check One, Two” Campus Tour for the remainder of the month. Their tour includes stops at colleges and universities all across the country in the hopes of educating young people on the breast cancer prevention and detection.
If you want to learn more about Boarding for Breast Cancer or get involved with any of their many events, please visit their website, www.b4bc.org. Check out below for an exclusive video of the making of our donated art piece and if you are in the Denver area on October 5th, we hope to see you there!
